A Veterinary Assistant will perform various duties in the office and in the hospital to support the veterinarian. They need to be quick learners comfortable working in a fast-paced, flexible, and sometimes stressful work environment, with minimal supervision - while also responding well to frequent feedback and change. Specific day-to-day tasks may include assisting the veterinarian during examinations by collecting patient history, performing physical examinations, preparing patients for diagnostic procedures or surgery, monitoring patient vital signs, anesthetizing patients, managing surgical instruments, and performing delegated routine laboratory procedures. Performing other administrative tasks, including patient record maintenance and filing and accurate accounting of medical supplies.
