An underwriter is responsible for evaluating the safety and soundness of insurance policies, either as a diversion product or in association with corporate insurance programs. They evaluate underwriting applications, review insurance premiums, audit client premiums and policy documents for compliance with insurance regulations, and examine proposed policies to ensure they meet all state and federal requirements. They also advise clients of any policy changes that may be necessary to meet regulatory standards.
